Workshop: The Studio, Corning Museum of Glass

In August 2026, I taught a two-week workshop, Figurative Experiment, at The Studio of The Corning Museum of Glass.
The workshop focused on kiln casting as a way to explore figurative and sculptural forms in glass. I shared techniques and processes developed through my own studio practice, including mold-making, hollow-core casting, and approaches to controlling the thickness and structure of cast glass. Participants developed their own forms and molds while experimenting with different casting methods and material possibilities. Alongside technical demonstrations, we considered how process, structure, transparency, and the qualities of glass could become part of an individual artistic expression. One of the most rewarding aspects of the workshop was seeing each participant interpret the techniques in a different way and gradually develop their own work through experimentation.
The two weeks also gave me an opportunity to reconsider my own processes through teaching and exchange, and brought new perspectives and ideas that I hope to carry into my future work. I am very grateful to The Studio and to all of the participants for such an inspiring and memorable two weeks in Corning.
